Simply the Truth
My name is John, and I own Ayos Air in Burleson, TX. We are a local, veteran owned, family run business serving the Southern Tarrant and Johnson County area. I have worked for large AC/Heating companies and I know that there are several key factors that dictate the cost of AC or Heating repairs sold to homeowners.
1. Overhead - large companies tend to have lots of overhead due the size of the business they run. They also need to have a large number of office locations throughout the DFW Metroplex because they have to support a large geographical region.
My overhead is extremely small compared to the “Big” companies and it really helps me to keep my repair costs low.
2. Advertising – most “Big” companies have to spend a large amount of money to get you to call them. It’s not cheap to be seen in every search bar and social media ad by so many people. That cost of advertising directly affects their repair pricing, making it much higher than it should be.
I have decided not to spend large amounts of money on advertising and instead, focus on giving excellent service and hoping that you will recommend me to your friends and family for my service and pricing.
3. Training and Certification – in order to justify charging so much for repairs, most “Big” companies will tout their technicians training and certification. It doesn’t seem fair that homeowners should have to pay for something that the technicians should already have, right?
I have additional training and certifications that really do help to make me a better technician, but I see no reason to charge you more for it.
4. Repair or Replace – replacing your system can really help you reduce your energy use and keep you comfortable. The problem with having a “Big” company come service your AC/Heater, is that they don’t want to repair your system, they want to replace it. That’s because they make a lot more profit from replacement vs repair. With the cost of the replacement system being so high, it may take 10 or more years to recoup that investment, by which time you may need a new system again.
Replacing your system should not cost as much as a car. Most systems sold today automatically come with a 10 year parts warranty from the manufacturer. The "Big" companies don't want you to know this. They want you to think their prices are dictated by higher costs on their end, when the reality is they are just charging you more for the same thing.
The Truth about the “Tune Up”
My family and I live in a home too. I know what it’s like to have unexpected expenses, especially when you can’t do without something as important as your AC and Heating system here in Texas. I also know that a regular checkup of your system can greatly decrease the chances of having a break down when you need it most. The “Tune Up” is really just an inspection of your system since there really isn’t anything to “Tune Up” on your system. Regularly changing your filter and spraying off your outdoor unit will just about “Tune Up” your system, and you can do that yourself.
Having your system inspected annually really does help to keep it working longer. There are parts in both the AC and Heating sections that are designed to wear out long before the entire system does. Finding those parts and replacing them can increase your systems efficiency and lifespan.
